Still off work. Latest news is that work will be open from 9-5 tomorrow but whether there will be any power is another question *entirely*!

(For the benefit of the completely confused... An electrical sub-station went boom yesterday. Said substation a) is on my work's campus and b) killed someone in the process. Needless to say work evacuated everyone out pretty damn sharpish! Which was a bit of a pain as I was two floors away from all my stuff at the time!)

I was able to get into work to retrieve car/bag/diary/life support system. The car park where my car was parked - just by said substation - looked like something from CSI or Torchwood. You get the picture!

I've signed up for ncis_bigbang. May the universe have mercy on my soul. I'm not quite sure which story idea I'm going to go with but it's more to do with me giving myself 'permission' to write something long as in Twenty Four Frames plus 8,000 words extra long.

I'm trying to finish off my Sweet Charity fic. If I mention that I'm going to do something like this again... for the love of Gibbs talk me out of it!. I'm over a week overdue. Not to mention 794 words off my minimum with the characters acting OOC too....

In other news... the Edinburgh Film Festival has announced it's line up for this year. Instead of playing during August (along with the other fests), the FF will be held at the end of June (this is made of win if you've ever tried to find a hotel room in E'burgh in August! Rocking Horse Poopoo sums it up;)).

One of the films they're showing is My Best Film of the Year (even though I haven't seen it yet...)

The appropriate answer to this is...:

If anyone heard a very loud squeeing sound about noon BST on Friday - it was me. I refuse to apologise as I was sitting in a cinema watching the new Indiana Jones trailer. No, I wasn't expecting it and yes, I was bouncing up and down, squeeing like a giddy school girl.

Embarrassing? Certainly!

Did I care? Not in the slightest!

I could babble away about it (Movie Homages! Russian Accents! Indy! Motorcycles! Marion! Making it up as he goes along!) but hell, just watch it yourself.

And for the hundredth time... can people please use beta readers for their fic?! If nothing else they will remind you that whenever a character speaks, it requires a new line. Not only that but they do useful stuff like point out when you're characters are being OOC!

Captain Jack's Monster Files on the Ood

Can I just say, for the record, that I envy people who can knock out 2,000 - 3,000 words on a near daily basis? I'm lucky if I can do that in a *month*.

With that whinge out the way - onwards!

The Sweet Charity fic has been started - this is a thing of awesome. Over 500 words written today *alone*. Which is even more awesome. Not too sure where I am headed with this but I think I know what I'm trying to say. 2,000 word minimum and a deadline of 30/4.


The NCIS/MfU story has also been started. This one will send me insane I just know it will. No details at present. Perhaps once I get past 10,000 words I might say *something*... or plead diminished responsibility. One or the other. No deadline - thank the lord!


Having seen 'Stakeout' - I now have a plot bunny nibbling at the ankle set in the Babylon Project verse. I think I need to know what happens next first. Suffice to say that Abby is going to have some 'splaining to do! And that's without the other two stories I want to write for this verse... again, no deadline.

And these are the ones just in the NCIS verse. I haven't even thought about the Doctor Who/Torchwood/Sapphire and Steel story yet... I'm thinking that the Doctor is like Ducky - he knows *everybody*! And that includes two freed Time 'agents'...
